Climbing Moutains

Sometimes I like to compare my journey in life to climbing mountains. When you are climbing a mountain there is a definite goal (to get to the top and enjoy the view) and defined, though often difficult paths to follow. There are many paths to the top of the mountain and you must choose for yourself which path to use. As you hike, you can walk as fast or as slow as is necessary depending on your age and your strengths and the weight of the load you are carrying. There are others on the path with you- all struggling a long at their own pace to reach the top. You and your fellow hikers can cheer and encourage each other or offer direction but ultimately everyone has to take each step of the hike on their own.

Does that make sense to anyone but me? Can you picture it what I am saying? I hope so because I have a questions.

Have you ever come to a point in your hike where you caught a glimpse of the view you thought you were climbing to see and realized that you were not where you thought you were? That somewhere, somehow you unintentionally, unknowingly took a wrong turn and are now struggling up the wrong path... on the wrong mountain?

Has that ever happened to you? What did you do about it?

Ahhh a life struggle? A moment where you have second guessed a decision that has already been made. Something happened that gave you cause to just stop & check out your life. Moments like these are good & bad. It gives you a second to just kind of think about what choices you have made, & how those choices have directly & indirectly affected your life. I guess whatI take from these moments is that you can not go back. You can not change what has already been done. All you can do is decide was that a good choice, if yes be glad in it. If it wasn't now is the time to learn from that & decide to try & not make that same mistake. All of us are not sure if we are exactly where we are supposed to be in life. Only one knows that. We just have to take joy in where we are right now & keep manuvering ourselves along the path taking the good, the bad & the indifferent with us. B/c that is the journey. Hope that helps a bit. :) Marianne

I think this is a great analogy and I have also heard a similar version of it with a bunch of ladders to climb over a wall. Sometimes you get pretty far before you realize you are not on the right ladder. In the spiritual realm the GPS is the scriptures, prayer, and words of the prophets. And as Marianne says you just have to repent basically and go on. There are no do overs. I learned that one big time in my first career choice and in my weight maintenance. Every day is a new beginning~thank heavens!
