Kitchen Fire

On Saturday afternoon Spencer came down stairs and very calmly said, "Excuse me Mom, did you know the kitchen is on fire?" I thought he was kidding but sure enough upon running up stairs to the kitchen I discovered that a candle had caught a roll of paper towels on fire. The burning roll of paper towels got so hot it melted my favorite Restoration Hardware soap dispenser, scorched a hand towel and burned two hot pads. Yikes!! We were really blessed- this fire could have been a lot worse. This was a wake up call for me- apparently I need to be a little more careful about my candle habits!
